Robotech: A New Beginning
Veritech stands for Variable Technology, also known as transformable mecha. Veritechs are Earth’s secret weapon against alien invaders. By default they appear as large jet aircraft closely resembling USA F-22 Raptors. However, they are able to change into a large robot soldier called a Battloid when needed. As a byproduct, there is a third form the craft can adopt – the gerwalk or guardian mode. This is essentially the hybrid blend between robot and jet and appears as a jet with it’s thrusters folded down as reverse joint legs and arms. The gerwalk configuration allows the Veritech to hover in place and provides more controlled maneuvering than the jet configuration, making it ideal for search and rescue as well as anywhere that runway space is limited.
There are several variations of the VF-1 Valkyrie. They’re all essentially stylistic differences.
- VF-1A – Mass produced model, aka “FNG” model.
- VF-1J – Junior officer model.
- VF-1S – Squadron commander/ace model.
In the following tables, any values in X/Y/Z format represent the values in a given mode (Fighter/Guardian/Soldier). For example, the GU-11 pod has an Arc of FF/F/F; the GU-11 can only fire in the direction the Valkyrie is pointing when it’s in fighter mode, but is free to track in both Guardian and Soldier mode.
